Zbigniew Pinkalski, PhD
Bio
Zbigniew Pinkalski’s area of specialization is intellectual property law, media and advertising law, pharmaceutical law, and sports law and competition law, with particular emphasis on legal protection of information and know-how. He provides legal advice to business clients and cultural institutions. He handles court proceedings for market leaders in the pharmaceutical, telecommunications, chemical, and cosmetic industries, whom he represents in court proceedings, and has successfully handled litigation before the Supreme Court of Poland.
He is an expert on the standing committee of the Polish Council for Supplements and Nutritional Foods (KRSiO) and a referee in the Disciplinary Court for advertising of dietary supplements created by the KRSiO, Polfarmed, and Pasmi and Suplementy Polska. He is a member of the Rules and Legal Committee of the Małopolska Football Association, and laureate of a plebiscite organized by the “Gazeta Prawna” daily: “Rising Stars – lawyers, leaders of tomorrow” (2016 edition, fifth place in the ranking).
He is a speaker at conferences and seminars on the areas of law listed above, and a lecturer on e-marketing postgraduate studies at the Lazarski Academy. Author of legislative expertise for the Center for Research, Studies and Legislation of the National Bar Association.
He is the author of the monography Prawna ochrona formatów telewizyjnych [Legal protection of TV formats] (awarded a prize by the Polish National Broadcasting Council (Krajowa Rada Radiofonii I Telewizji) for the best book of the year on the electronic media market), and numerous publications in the professional press, blogosphere, and prestigious scientific journals on subjects including “ambush marketing”, the scope of protection in copyright, brand management, know-how protection, advertising and commercial promotion law, and press law.
Zbigniew Pinkalski is a researcher at the Department of Intellectual Property Law of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University. He also conducts classes as part of the pro publico bono legal education cycle organized by the Kraków Bar Association. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University. In 2014, he obtained a Ph.D. from the Faculty of Law at the Jagiellonian University, and was given an award by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for his doctoral thesis.
