Bio

Maciej Miąsko is a lawyer and an economist. He specializes in new technologies law, with particular emphasis on issues related to payment services, anti-money laundering (AML), information protection, and a broad range of e-commerce issues. He has extensive experience in contract law and services provided by electronic means, including electronic money. At our Law Firm, he is involved in our Technologies – Media – Telecommunications Practice and is a member of the Financial Institutions and Payment Services law Team.

He has advised financial institutions on cases before regulators (Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF), the Polish central bank (NBP), the General Inspector of Financial Information (GIIF) and the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), including in several cases concerning a license for a payment institution or payment scheme and also in regulatory audits of such institutions. He has also advised financial institutions in the course of numerous projects to implement various internal procedures (AML, internal control, risk management, personal data, professional secrets). He has managed the implementation of the GDPR at payment institutions, insurance companies and investment fund companies. He has worked on many due diligence projects concerning financial market participants.

He speaks at numerous industry conferences and workshops on the subject of payment services law, AML and personal data protection. He is an author and co-author of popular science titles on payment services, including practical comments on the amendment of the Payment Services Act regarding PSD2, and on RTS regarding strong customer authentication (SCA) and common and secure communication standards (CSC).

He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Jagiellonian University and the Finance Faculty at the Cracow University of Economics (fields of study: finance and accounting; specialization: accounting and audit). He is admitted to the bar in Kraków.

He advises Clients in Polish and English.
