Seminar: Complicity as a special form of participation in anti-competitive agreements – in the light of EU law and Polish law
On 3 April 2019, an open seminar entitled “Complicity as a special form of participation in anti-competitive agreements – in the light of EU law and Polish law” will be held in Warsaw, organised by Competition Law Department of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
The following issues will be discussed during the event:
- New forms of group practices limiting competition;
- Anti-monopoly responsibility of cartel accomplices on the basis of EU law;
- EU conception of responsibility of cartel accomplices in investigations by the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.
We are pleased to announce that during the event lectures will be given by:
- Paweł Podrecki, PhD Habil., Professor of the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences – “New forms of group practices limiting competition;”
- Katarzyna Wiese, PhD – “Anti-monopoly responsibility of cartel accomplices on the basis of EU law.”

The 8th Symposium of the World of Teleinformatics and Infrastructure
On 3-4 April 2019 the 8th edition of the Symposium of the World of Teleinformatics and Infrastructure will be held in Warsaw.

Conference: Management of institutional risk and transactions on the basis of AMLD4 implementing acts
On 25-26 March 2019 a conference on “Management of institutional risk and transactions on the basis of AMLD4 implementing acts” will be held in Warsaw.
On the second day, a lecture on “Obligations of institutions to suspend transactions and/or block accounts” will be delivered by Michał Synowiec, our lawyer from the Financial Institutions and Payment Services Law team (FinTech).
The following are some of the topics that will be discussed:
- Life cycle of risk assessment and implementation of measures for proper management of identified risks within the obligated institution
- Symptoms of suspicious transactions – a case study
- Rules for transmission of notifications of circumstances that indicate an AMLD crime

7th edition of Cashless Congress
The 7th edition of Cashless Congress will take place on 19-20 March 2019 in Warsaw.
Cashless Congress (formerly International Congress of Non-Cash Payments) became a regular event in the payment industry, enabling the gathering and essential discussion of all stakeholders on the market. This event addresses issues affecting the future of the non-cash payment market. Experts from Poland, the European Union, and the world, during panel sessions and specialist presentations, present the most important industry issues.

Conference by the Polish Federation of Food Industry Employers Association: Amicable Consumer Dispute Settlement Regarding Foodstuffs
The Polish Federation of Food Industry Employers Association invites you to a conference entitled “Amicable Consumer Dispute Settlement Regarding Foodstuffs,” which will take place on 17 January 2019 at the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection Conference Centre in Warsaw.
The event means to target all the enterprises in the food industry covering the entire food chain, particularly the representatives of production and commercial companies, persons responsible for the companies’ growth, consumer relations as well as complaint departments and legal departments.

Conference: GDPR in Marketing – First Experiences and Interpretations
On 25 May 2018 the GDPR came into effect – it has been one of the most challenging implementations in many years and is also easily misinterpreted. Marketing is one of the key areas where personal data is present on a wide scale.
During the conference on GDPR in Marketing – First Experiences and Interpretations there will be a presentation of the course and effects of the first inspection procedures, sanctions on the basis of the GDPR, first experiences and interpretations. The conference will be held in Warsaw on 14-15 January 2019.

4th Personal Data Protection Conference. GDPR and the new Personal Data Protection Act – first months of applying the regulations
The fourth edition of the conference organised by the C.H. Beck Publishing House and devoted to the subject of personal data protection will be held in Warsaw on 22 November 2018.
This year’s meeting addresses problems with implementing the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (General Data Protection Regulation), issues related to the new Personal Data Protection Act, and amendments to the Labour Code regarding the processing and protection of employee data.
The Conference has been divided into three discussion panels:
- Practical problems with implementing GDPR
- Employee data processing and protection
- Exercising the competence of the President of the Office for Personal Data Protection (UODO).

GDPR Congress – Personal Data Protection reform – first experiences
On 23 October 2018 we invite you to participate in the 2nd edition of the GDPR Congress, the organiser of which is Wolters Kluwer.
The objective of the Congress is to discuss practical effects of the European Union’s GDPR Regulation and the new Polish act. Participants will have a chance to find out how the new regulations have been applied in practice over the first months, what problems people had to face while implementing the new responsibilities in companies, public institutions, law firms, as well as what challenges are anticipated in the next months.
The meeting was based on Case Studies which made it possible to present good practices to the participants suited for a given sector of the market in which they operate.
